Once the ecological environment of the Xihe River (also known as the Yangxi River) basin was seriously damaged due to extensive mining.
In recent years, Suxian District has adhered to the concept of “ecological priority and green development” and formulated more than 20 specific implementation plans such as the construction of the Xihe River Beach Park and Sports Park as well as the geological restoration of the Manao Mountain Mine.
Chenzhou has implemented the ecological restoration of heavy metal pollution in the Xihe River basin and created a new name card for the integrated development of Chenzhou’s culture and tourism through industrial transformation.
The project of the Xihe River Beach Park covers an area of 35 hectares, with a total investment of 130 million yuan. With ecological restoration carried out in the closing warehouse area of the tailing sand, the leisure and fitness squares, beach recreation areas, walking paths and planting shrubs have been built. The “wasteland” in the past has been transformed into green land, which is in accordance with the concept of sustainable development.
Therefore, the Xihe River Beach Park won the “China Habitat Environment Example Award”, which is the highest award in the field of human settlements construction in China.
Yizhang County urban and rural water supply integration (Phase I) project as well as the Mangshan sewage treatment project was officially started on August 17, 2021.
The project is an important auxiliary project of the Mangshan Reservoir water conservancy project. It is expected to supply water to the central county, 9 townships and the Mangshan Huaxili health and wellness project, which can benefit 420,000 people.
The simultaneous implementation of the Mangshan sewage treatment project can undertake the domestic sewage treatment for nearly 36,000 people in the Mangshan Scenic Area, Mangshan Yao Township and surrounding areas.
The efficient use of water resources enables more people to enjoy the benefits of sustainable development and enjoy a better life brought by clear water and green mountains.
Chenzhou is rich in hot spring resources. 35 underground hot springs have been found in the city. Relying on the resources, an industry chain has been developed integrating the hot spring, health and wellness, ecology as well as cultural tourism.
Rucheng County uses natural “hot water” resources to promote tourism as well as health and wellness industry. Beihu District has developed the Longnv Hot Spring into an ideal resort for sightseeing, vacation, business, leisure, entertainment and fitness.
Every May is the “Publicity Month” of Chenzhou National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone.
